How many babies did you just say we're having?

"When I have kids..." Four little words that I would end up eating more times than Paula Dean has eaten fried chicken. I, like most people, had certain ideas what it would be like to have a baby and I, again like most people, found that saying is a whole lot easier than doing.

When we first found out we were having 3 girls at one time I went from very happy to very scared in about 10 seconds. I can remember thinking, "I only have 2 hands! How the heck am I going to take care of three babies?" My girls are just a year old now and I have come to the truth that all parents (multiples or not) come to. How do you do it? The answer is... you just do.

I am not going to lie. It is hard and at times very hard. The girls were in the hospital for 1-2 months depending on the kid. Once they were all home there were many days that I was only getting 2-3 1 hour naps. There were a lot of things I just had to accept were not going to get done. Things that I had said over and over again I would do with my baby went undone.

As an example here is the most recent time I have had to eat my words:

My girls are in three different stages when it comes to eating. This means I was making 3 separate meals for each dinner. Then I had to try and convince them to eat something different than their sisters. This did not go well. Dinners were ending in tears and the girls weren't happy either. So I broke down and asked my mom for suggestions of what to feed them.

I have a nephew that is 2 months younger then the girls and she said he loves these pre-packaged ravioli things made by a popular baby food company. No way in the world was I going to give my daughters those things. I had been saying for years that "toddler" food was awful and that anything with meat that doesn't need to be refrigerated is just wrong. Then one night I just didn't want to fight them so I let them try a spinach one. I was able to convince myself that it wasn't as bad as the meat ones. Wouldn't you know it... they loved it. They hadn't eaten that much ever and now I had to eat my words yet again.

Since then I have been practicing and trying out all kinds of things to find meals that cater to three different abilities and palates. I have been able to come up with some really healthy foods that the girls love. Not to mention that are fast and affordable. I am going to post a few of our recipes and what the different girls thought of them. In hope of saving someone else a few hair pulling moments.
